Dream Team for Dummies: Round 7

Move over prospectus, this is the REAL DT BibleFull backs, not necessarily the glamour position in the AFL, but an important one. They have the ability to win games by shutting down the oppositions power forward and wreak havoc for the opposition. Scarlett, Glass and Rivers to name a few of the modern day gun full backs, sadly, the full back doesnt recieve DT points for a spoil or keeping their opponent goaless. So in a DT perspective, the are terrible.

Full backs for dream team are like forwards, forwards who dont kick goals, or points, who dont take much marks, who dont normally get as much kicks and often like to handball. They are DT nightmares, so the DT for dummies round 8 tip is

DONT PICK A FULL BACK

At the start of the year when you choose your initial team or trades you make throughout the year, full backs shouldnt cross your mind as an option, even though they may be cheap and you dont have much money left they will give you nothing but an average of 50. If your serious about dream team you will choose a young gun back pocketer or out of form flanker over a full back, at least they have potential. A true full back who plays man on man footy will give you nothing.

examples of true full backs:

Jared Rivers: Takes the opposition’s gun forward most weeks, sticks tight to them and plays man on man footy. Averages 47

Darren Glass: Champion full back for the eagles, constantly shutting down the oppositions best which also means he shuts down any chance of a good DT score. Averages 41

Max Hudghton: Pretty shit full back, but a full back nevertheless. Averages 46

Pat Ryder: More of a CHB but takes the oppositions gun forward so acts as a full back. Great young player with potential, shame i cant say the same for his DT scores. Averages 51

Matty Scarlett: The greatest full back going around for the past 4 years, shuts down the oppositions full forward better than anyone in the business. Even a champ like him averages 59

But wait, Bret Thortan, hasnt he been a gun this year and isnt he a full back? yes well he has been reasonable averaging 70, but the thing with Thortan is that he cant play football, he plays the spot of full back but doesnt man up on his man, running free up the ground getting cheap kicks, maybe more full backs should take a tip from his book and run off their man getting chepies, yes the full forward will absolutely screw them over and kick 8 goals and it also explains why carlton have so much goals kicked on them, but DTers are happy. So if you must choose a full back, choose one who doesnt know how to man up, Carlton does well in that area.

Full back+Dream Team Starting 22= Fantasy Football Suicide
