Dean ‘No’ Cox

Dean Cox was involved in an incident a few weeks ago against Fremantle where he unfortunately  kicked David Wirrapunda while attempting to make contact with the ball.

As he stands at 204cm, this ‘unco’ act can be forgiven, but what cant be forgiven is the ramifications this act has caused.

The weekend passed in a match against the Dogs, he indeed damaged his already sore ankle once more, failing to finish off the match. Although, being a muscular and masculine man like himself, you would think a bit of bruising on the foot wouldnt stop him, would it?

In a press conference with John Worsfold today the eagles coach stated that he was in ‘doubt’ for this week’s crucial (crucial in a DT perspective) clash against the navy blues. I was astounded to find that this bruising would keep him out for the week, so i did a bit of research on the injury he had sustained.

Apparently Dean Cox has succome to the serious injury of ‘Girliness’. A simple yet damaging injury which can often sidelines players for long periods of time. The injury is most commonly sustained in the softer players, ones who would rather watch the game at home with their missus than be at the ground, players who rather spend three hours shopping rather than three hours of training or even players who opt for a handbag over a breifcase.

There have been many players over the past 10 years who have found themselves sidelined with the injury, Nathan Buckley on many occasions when he ‘apparently’ pulled his hammy, however, he was caught out shoe shopping by Dale Thomas when he should have been recovering, Nathan felt ashamed and retired not long after the incident, whilst Dale kept shoe shopping to this day…

Dean Cox has been given until thursday to prove his fitness, the club has stated he is still a good chance to play if he manages to get through the week without knitting or talking about boys.

Hopefully Cox can pull up his socks and pull off the dress to be fit for Friday nights clash with Carlton, or he may find himself with a nomination for the inaugural Girl of the Year award.
